Representatives of Sikh, Hindu and Christian communities announce participation in processions

RAWALPINDI/ ISLAMABAD: The Sikh, Hindu and Christian communities of the twin cities of have announced to celebrate Eid Milad-un-Nabi with full fervour to express unity with Muslim Ummah.

The members of the minorities’ communities will take out processions and attend Mehfil-e-Milad, said leaders of non-Muslim communities Ashok Chand, Sardar Ashish Singh, Elder Shehzad Bhatti and Jibran Gul while expressing their thoughts in Express Forum.

They said that Christian, Sikh and Hindu communities will participate in the procession of Milad.

The Holy Prophet (PBUH) is Rehmatullil Alameen a blessing for all the universes, therefore Holy Prophet’s birth should be celebrated by all, the representatives of the minorities said.

“Pakistan is our motherland, minorities will not let anyone,” Ashok Chand said.

“Minorities will be ahead of Muslims for the defence of the country in difficult times,” said Sardar Ashish Singh. They said that all minorities are secure in Pakistan. They were Pakistani first and then Hindu, Christian and Sikh, Pakistan was everything to them, they said.

The representatives of the white portion of the national flag said their lives were dedicated to the development, prosperity and unity of the country.

Eid Milad-un-Nabi arrangements finalised

“Pakistan Army has made everlasting sacrifices for the eradication of terrorism from the country,” said Elder Shehzad Bhatti extolling Pak Army to ensuring peace and security.

Jibran Gul said that Pakistani minorities were united under the national flag. He said that India should stop atrocities in the occupied Kashmir.

City decorated

Preparations for the celebration of Eid Milad-un-Nabi have been finalised. Streets, roads, crossings, mosques, imambarghas have been decorated with colourful flags and lights.

The twin cities are resonating with the sounds of Naats, beautiful floral archways have been made on the routes of processions of milad. Besides, free food and water stalls have been set up on the routes of processions.

In Rawalpindi, the main milad procession will be taken out from Markazi Jama Masjid at 10 in the morning while the rally from Cantonment will start at the same time from Chungi No 2.

Cleaning up

Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) has begun cleaning the procession routes and city ahead of Eid-Miladun-Nabi. Rawalpindi Deputy Commissioner and RWMC Chairman Dr Umar Jahangir said 500 workers of RWMC are cleaning up the city’s lanes, markets, streets and graveyards.

He was chairing a meeting to review the Clean and Green Campaign.

RWMC Managing Director Dr Rizwan Ali Sher Dil, Senior Manager Operations Dr Hamid Iqbal, DMO Khalid Naeem, Syed Hassan Sardar, sector in-charges and other high officials were present.

He said cleanliness should be ensured on procession route passing through Raja Bazar, Circular Road, Kohati Market, Jamia Masjid Road, Fawara Chowk, Committee Chowk and Murree Road.

He suggested deploying more sanitary staff on special duties.
