Before committing suicide in 2013, Bollywood actor Jiah Khan left a note accusing ex boyfriend Sooraj Pancholi for ruining her life. The Ghajini actor hanged herself from the fan in her flat in Mumbai and police charged Pancholi with abetment to suicide. Now, for the first time, the Hero actor has broken his silence on the case that was filed against him, reported Hindustan Times.

Celebrating his 28th birthday on Friday, Pancholi addressed the six-year long case that is still being going on. Holding a pair of candles, the actor said that he wanted to wait until the case was over to address the matter, but realised that it was taking longer than expected and decided to share his thoughts on Instagram.

"I want to take up this moment to share a few thoughts that have been in my heart for a while.  I don’t know where to start from. It is difficult to express some feelings when so many people and emotions are involved," said Pancholi.

The actor then thanked everyone who stood by him for so long. He added that the case started when he was still young and trying to understand life. The 28-year-old continued, "I have been called a murderer, a criminal, an abuser and so much worse. I read these things about me almost every single day. And my heartfelt effort has always been to be strong, respectful and ignore it. But they still fill my and my loved ones’ heart with so much sadness."

He shared that he does not blame the people for calling him names because that's how the media has shown him. However, Pancholi clarified, "I’m not the monster that I have been portrayed in the headlines. I know it's easy to think the worst of someone and accuse them but it is exceptionally hard to prove myself innocent as there’s a procedure that we need to follow."

The Time to Dance star explained that the court case have taken a long time and made him feel guilty, without even being given a fair chance to prove his innocence. He said, "There have been accusations and assumptions but there has been no validation."

Pancholi continued, "For as long as I can remember, my dream has always been to make my parents proud. I have always tried to be a good son to them and in the past six years, I’ve tried harder everyday to achieve this dream and to be positive."
