KARACHI: The educationists of Sindh have supported the idea of forming a school education commission (SEC) in Sindh to re-arrange and bring basic reforms to the education system of the province, which is suffering from many problems, including governance and administrative issues due to fragmentation and inconsistency prevailing in the education department.

Sindh Madressatul Islam University's (SMIU) four-member committee of research scholars have developed the idea of the commission, in which they have suggested the Sindh government form SEC in Sindh on the pattern of the Higher Education Commission. The proposed commission will look after school education from pre-primary to intermediate level with the support of seven wings. It will be headed by a chairperson who will be hired on a tenure-based post.

Briefing academicians on reforming education and rethinking governance at the Senate Hall of SMIU on Wednesday, Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Ali Shaikh said that the main task of SEC would be to improve education in Sindh from primary to intermediate level and all examination boards.
