SC indicts PTI's Amir Liaquat Hussain for contempt

Court rejects unconditional apology, charges PTI leader under Article 204 (3) of the Constitution

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Amir Liaquat Hussain was indicted by the Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday for contempt of court.

The PTI leader pleaded not guilty, however, the apex court maintained that the politician had violated the code of conduct.

A two-member bench presided by justice Ijazul Ahsan presided the hearing.





The unconditional apology by Amir was rejected by the court and he was charged under Article 204 (3) of the Constitution.

The defence counsel's argument that his client had submitted an unconditional apology to the court was not entertained.



According to the apex court, the PTI leader performed contempt of court during a TV programme. "His attitude was unprofessional too." the court stated.

The apex court granted time till November 29 to present evidence, while, AAG Sajid Ilyas Bhatti was appointed as prosecutor in the case.

The case has been adjourned till November 29.
