Earlier, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) officials produced Mujahid Kamran, Dr Auranzeb, Kamran Abid, Dr LiaqatAli, Dr Ras Saud and Amin Athar before Accountability Court Judge Syed Najamul Hassan after the expiry of their 14-day judicial remand.
Dr Kamran's counsel alleged that NAB was biased towards his client. “Dr Kamran was allowed to meet his legal team only once in a week, whereas others met more than once," he added.
To this, the court observed that NAB laws required a changed and directed the counsel to move a written application regarding his complaint. The court directed NAB authorities to file the challan (charge-sheet) as early as possible against the accused, while extending the judicial remand till Nov20.
Dr Kamran is accused of illegal recruitment at the university and for giving away scholarships to students who were not eligible. In addition to this, he is also accused of being involved in the illegal appointment of his wife Shazia Qureshi as the principal of Punjab University Law College. Dr Kamran remained the PU vice chancellor from January 2008 to December 2016.
