Balochistan Governor calls for urgent steps to control drought

Says there is severe need for building small dams

QUETTA: Balochistan Governor Justice (retd) Amanullah Khan Yasinzai has called for immediate steps to control the long-lingering drought in the province.

Speaking to a delegation from Muslim Bagh on Monday, the governor said the decreasing underground water level had drastically damaged the agriculture and livestock in the province.

“There is a severe need for building small dams in the province,” he said, adding that advices from environmental experts and researchers could be effective in controlling the water crisis in Balochistan.



Meanwhile during a meeting with a delegation, headed by Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) MPA Mir Zabid Reki, the governor said, “Without educating our children we can’t end poverty and deprivation from Balochistan.”

He said the government had declared education emergency in the province. He called upon the government employees, particularly in health and education departments, to ensure presence in remote areas.

The governor also urged the parents to educate their children, specially girls, for a better future of the province.
