KARACHI: An accountability court on Saturday issued warrants of arrest for suspects in the Rs23 billion corruption case related to the Pakistan State Oil (PSO).

The court issued the order on the references filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against former managing director of PSO Naeem Mir, former general manager of PSO Syed Nazeer Ahmed Zaidi, officials of Byco Oil Pakistan Limited and others. The accused would be indicted on the next hearing.

ECC expected to approve Rs60 billion bailout for PSO

Two of the accused – Syed Zulfiqar Ali and Nazeer Ali – are already in the NAB custody, having been arrested from Islamabad and Gilgit-Biltistan respectively.

During the hearing on Saturday, NAB told the accountability court that the PSO officials misused their authority in purchase of oil under agreement with Byco Oil Pakistan Limited.

The court adjourned the hearing till November 8, 2018.
