HARIPUR/ PESHAWAR: At least three members of a family were killed, while another was injured after unidentified armed assailants fired on their car in Havelian and fled. The attack was apparently motivated by personal enmity, police officials said.

Ibrahim Khan, Zameer Khan and Hasnain Khan were returning home after Friday prayers in their pickup truck when the unidentified suspects intercepted them at Joramera and sprayed their car with bullets.

The three men died on the spot while another was critically injured.

Upon receiving information about the attack, the police rushed to the spot and cordoned off the site.

The lone survivor of the incident, who had suffered minor injuries, was provided with first aid and his statement was recorded by the police.

Later the bodies were shifted to the hospital for autopsies. After completing the medico-legal formalities, the bodies were handed over to their family for performing their last rites.

On the complaint of the victim’s family, the Havelian police lodged a case under Section 302 against the suspects and launched a manhunt for them.

Police officers confirmed that all three victims belonged to a single family. They further said that the attack was the result of an old enmity, claiming that the suspects will be apprehended soon.

Raids are being conducted by the police while checkposts have been set up at various points.

Family members of the deceased have strongly protested against the incident and have demanded the immediate arrest of culprits.
