ISLAMABAD: Prime minister (PM) Imran Khan has summoned a federal cabinet meeting on Thursday.
The meeting will begin at 11.30am at the PM Office where the cabinet will discuss an eight-point agenda.
According to sources, the meeting will review the economic and political situation of the country. The premier will seek the cabinet members’ opinion regarding his visit to China this week.
Approval for posting Maj Gen Fayyaz Hussain Shah as Inspector General (IG) of Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan and Maj Gen Rahat Hussain Ahmed as IG FC Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa will be given as well. The cabinet is also likely to approve reorganisation of Radio Pakistan.
Sources say the meeting’s agenda also includes approval for a Pakistan-China agreement on a peace mission to the United Nations (UN). It will take up the resignation of the chairman wage board and the appointment of a new chairperson. Appointments of LNG terminal directors are also likely to be approved.
Later in the day, the premier is scheduled to leave for a three-day official visit to China till November 5 – where he will hold meetings with his counterpart and other senior Chinese officials.
PM Imran will be will be accompanied by Finance Minister Asad Umer, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and the information minister.
