PTI hands Jehangir Tareen's sister Senate election ticket

Ezdi nominated out of 11 PTI female leaders who were vying for party ticket

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Wednesday announced that it would hand out a ticket to party supremo Jehangir Tareen's sister for a Senate slot up for grabs, Express News reported.

The ruling party has decided to field Seemi Ezdi from a Punjab seat in the Senate election.

Eleven female party members had applied for the ticket which fell vacant.

Firdous Ashiq Awan,Firdaus Jabeen, Nida Rehman, Rukhsana Bhatti among others had wanted the party ticket.

After deliberation among party leaders the go ahead to hand the ticket to Tareen's sister was given.

The Senate election for the slot will take place on November 15 with the seat falling vacant after Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Saadia Abbasi was disqualified.

Tareen had been disqualified by SC in its December 15, 2017 verdict under Article 62(1)(f)
