Brace yourselves! 'Game of Thrones' prequel is coming
The decision has come to make sure that actors who have to perform bold scenes are comfortable and in a safe environment. Rolling Stone revealed that after hiring Alicia Rodis as the 'intimacy coordinator' to oversee scenes for The Deuce, HBO has made it mandatory to have one on each set that has intimate scenes.

Rodis has already been a part of many productions which are currently being filmed. She oversaw scenes in Crashing, Watchmen and the upcoming Deadwood film.
Speaking to the publication, she said, "Even I didn’t understand the scope of just how much this had been ignored and for how long. There is such a power dynamic on sets, so much pressure and this sense that, as an actor, you just need to get over it somehow and do it."

Rodis' job includes reviewing scripts, facilitating group discussions about how explicit scenes will be filmed and meeting people to discuss these scenes. She also makes sure that when a specific bold scene has been added on the days's schedule, the actors' have been informed beforehand and their consent is taken.

She concluded, "I am here to give a voice to actors, especially to those who feel like they don’t have one. And I’m also here for the producers, to make sure that they know they’re doing their best to make sure the set is safe.”
