QUETTA: Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan has directed the Energy Department to finalise all legal formalities for paving the way for establishing the province’s own oil and gas company.

During a meeting on Monday, the chief minister was briefed about the issues related to the establishment of an oil and gas company at the provincial level.

Secretary Energy Khaleeq Nazeer Kiyani, Additional Chief Secretary for Planning and Development Sajjad Ahmed Bhutta, Secretary Finance Noorul Ameen Mengal and Secretary law Abdul Rehman Buzdar were present at the meeting.

Kamal said that after the 18th amendment to the Constitution, Balochistan had been allotted one block comprising oil and gas reservoirs. He added that demand for two more blocks would be presented to the federal government soon.

The meeting decided to appoint managing director and board of directors for the company while directing the Energy Department to cooperate with the Law Department in finalising all legalities formalities for bringing the province’s own oil and gas company in being.

The secretary Energy informed the meeting that the company had already been registered in the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan and would be registered with the Pakistan Stock Exchange after the hiring of MD.
