Oh Deer!: 2nd stolen deer recovered and returned to park

Four deer were stolen from the Lal Sohanra National Park recently but park workers recovered two of the deer.

Four deer were stolen from the Lal Sohanra National Park recently but park workers recovered two of the deer on Monday.

According to police officials, four park deer were stolen on May 23 and one deer was recovered by the police after an FIR was registered by the park administration. On Monday, the second deer was recovered by the police.


Thaana Abbas Nagar Station House Officer (SHO) Imran Siddiqi said that game watcher Ghulam Murtaza was also arrested in this regard and sent to prison. Siddiqui said that police officials had also arrested two men, Bali and Ijaz, in this regard.

“These three men were stealing deer from the park and selling them,” he said. The FIR was lunched against the six people and three of the accused have been arrested so far.

After the recovery of two animals, police officials said that they had a team working on recovering the remaining deer.

Park officials said that several park workers had been poaching Buck deer from the park premises and selling them to buyers.
