Chehlum security plan finalised

Over 5,300 security personnel will be deployed to perform duties on Tuesday

KARACHI: Sindh Police has prepared a contingency security plan for the main procession of Hazrat Imam Hussain's (RA) Chehlum. A total of 5,311 security personnel will be deployed to perform duties on Tuesday. This includes 16 senior superintendents of police (SSP), 43 deputy superintendents of police (DSP), 752 non-gazette officers, 115 female personnel and 3,540 others.

According to a Sindh police spokesperson, three SSPs, two DSPs, 12 non-gazette officers, 50 personnel along with 167 officers and soldiers have been deployed in pilot, squad and special search parties. Similarly, one SSP, four DSPs, 67 non-gazette officers, 238 security personnel, 10 female personnel, along with 438 officers and troops have been deployed for the security of Nishtar Park and its surrounding areas.

Furthermore, five SSPs, 14 DSPs, 404 non-gazette officers, 2,300 security personnel and five female personnel, along with 3,135 officers and troops will be deployed on the main procession's route and on high-rise buildings along the route. For the security of Lines area procession, 262 officers and troops will be deployed.

Two SSPs, 5 DSPs, 49 non-gazette officers, 236 security personnel along with 372 officers and troops have been deployed on the routes from which attendees of the main procession will be returning.  Nine DSPs, 116 non-gazette officers, 120 security personnel and 100 female personnel along with 345 officers and troops have been deployed on the entrance routes of the procession.

Meanwhile, 92 police officers and troops have been deployed for hospital's security and five SSPs, one DSP, 30 non-gazette officers, 134 security personnel and 290 officers and troops have been deployed to control the situation in case of any untoward incident.

According to the security plan, four officers have been deployed as reserve police. As many as 82 mobiles, 65 motorcylces, seven bullet proof vans and six prison vans will be used for the procession's security.
