
The Cabinet Division has issued a notification in this regard. According to the notification, Qasim will work with the Power Division and the task force on energy, develop a plan for resource mobilisation to address the circular debt issue and frame a plan for optimum funding of the power sector support fund. He will do all this in light of best international practices while keeping in view the political, economic and social fabric of Pakistan.

He will also execute any other initiative, or implement any other policy, as directed by the prime minister and the federal minister for power. The PTI’s official twitter account said: “Prime Minister Imran Khan has appointed Shahzad Qasim as his special assistant on power.
He has served on senior executive positions for the AES Corp, a Fortune 500 company and as vice chairman of NGP, a renewable energy producer.”
