‘Health reforms need of the hour’

LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Health Dr Yasmin Rashid on Friday initiated consultations with experts to introduce concrete reforms in the health sector.

In this regard, a consultative workshop on the development of national health policy would start on November 1. Dr Yasmin would inaugurate the workshop. “Rapid initiatives for the strengthening of the health sector are need of the hour,” she said.

The minister expressed satisfaction over the preparation of the health workforce strategy under the Punjab Health Department, saying that Punjab became the first province which had done the task with the cooperation of the WHO and other international organisations.



Punjab would be sharing its learning and experiences with other provinces and would be guiding them through the development of their health workforce strategies,” said the health minister.

However, she expressed her concerns over an acute shortage of health workforce in Pakistan, particularly in Punjab.
