Angeline Malik launches initiative to voice social issues on national level

'Inkaar Karo' will creatively depict strong women coming together to stand against suppression

Amidst the global #MeToo storm, renowned actor and director Angeline Malik has decided to initiate a movement as an advocate to voicing relevant social issues in Pakistan, stated a press release.

When the stars start to shine

The film-maker has previously talked on subjects like child abuse and violence against women on a local and international level, including the Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent of North America (APPNA) and Western Australian Practice Nurses Association (WAPNA) conferences in the US.

Inkaar Karo will be the first of a series of movements that will creatively depict strong women coming together to stand against suppression. Kick starting the first campaign, Malik explained, "This initiative Inkaar Karo, Hum Tumhare Saath Hain says a lot. I have heard many stories and seen a lot due to the nature of my work."


The 43-year-old directed added that she has brought together a group of strong women who feel the same as she does. Malik continued, "We altogether want to convey the message that 'We hear you, we believe you and we will support you'."

As far as criticism regarding her work is concerned, the star says sheis totally fine with it; “I love it! Any reaction works for me”


The series have been produced by Malik herself and will include some of the bigwigs from the Pakistani entertainment industry. Samina Ahmed, Freiha Altaf, Sheema Kirmani, Arjumand Rahim, Ayesha Omar, Nadia Hussain, Zhalay Sarhadi and Zoe Viccaji have joined hands to raise awareness against suppression.

The likes of Sonya Hussyn, Sanam Saeed, Farah Shah, Tooba Siddiqui, Pheby Haroon and Faiza Saleem along with other impressive women have also joined the revolutionary movement.
