Activating an institution: Minister calls for appointing VC of NSU

The NCC was constituted under the consensus decision of Inter-Provincial Education Ministers’ Conference (IPEMC)

ISLAMABAD: Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood on Tuesday directed the concerned authorities to appoint a vice chancellor for the National Skill University (NSU) and a head for the National Curriculum Council (NCC). During Mehmood’s visit to NSU and NCC, he was briefed about the respective institutes. He was told that a law had been approved to convert the National Institute of Science and Technical Education (NISTE) into the NSU. He directed the concerned authorities to appoint heads for NSU and NCC and make them active. The NCC was constituted under the consensus decision of Inter-Provincial Education Ministers’ Conference (IPEMC), as a national forum for coordination between the federal government and federating units for curriculum review and development initiatives. The NCC consists of three members from each province and area representing their respective education departments, curriculum bureaus and textbook boards. However, under the umbrella of the National Skills University, skills development centres in major cities.
