PESHAWAR:
In a shocking development, a first information report (FIR) was lodged at the city's Sarband police station against a 10-year-old boy over alleged gas theft on Saturday.

Complainant Waleed Khan named the child, Asad and Inamullah, who are residents of Shaheedabad area of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa capital.

Khan, an official of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL), during a raid found the family involved in gas theft after which he filed a complaint.

Asad's age was revealed only when he arrived at court in connection with the FIR. The issue was highlighted on social media after which Peshawar Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) took notice of the situation and directed the police not to arrest the child.

In a video that made rounds on social media, the child was seen telling a court official that he had been nominated in the case by the SNGPL.
