ATC issues notices to IO, witnesses after suspects deny charges

MQM-P workers charged with murder of prosecutor in Wali Khan Babar case

KARACHI: A special anti-terrorism court (ATC) allowed the prosecution to file an amended charge sheet against two accused of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) involved in the murder of Naimat Ali Randhawa, a prosecutor in the Wali Khan Babar case.

Notices were also issued to the investigation officer and the witnesses after the suspects denied committing the crime.

The hearing of the murder case of the prosecutor in Wali Khan Babar case took place at the anti-terrorism complex at Central Jail. The accused include MQM's Unit 178 workers Kazim Abbas Rizvi and Noman. The court, reading the charge sheet, said that they are charged with killing Randhawa.

The suspects denied the offence upon which the court issued notice to the investigation officer and the witnesses. The court has declared three absconding accused of the MQM as wanted in the case.

The absconding suspects include Azizullah, Abdullah alias Danish and Ghufran alias Sindhi. Suspect Rizvi has been shifted to Karachi Central Jail from the Sukkur jail. According to police, the suspects had opened fire on Randhawa, killing him and injuring his son, Tauqeer Randhawa, in September 2013 in North Nazimabad.
