KARACHI: A anti-terrorism court has ordered the witness in the SP Chaudhry Aslam murder case to appear before the court on the next hearing.

The hearing took place in the anti-terrorist complex of the Karachi central jail where suspects Zafar alias Sain and Ubaid alias Aabi were presented. Due to the absence of the second witness, the court proceedings were adjourned.

The witness has been summoned by the court for the next hearing, scheduled for September 29th. The suspect was arrested by the CTD police.

SP Chaudhry Aslam and his colleagues were killed in a bomb blast on 9th January 2014. According to the police, the suspect conducted reconnaissance of SP Chaudhry Aslam and served as a facilitator. The court declared the head of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban, Mullah Fazlullah, and Shahidullah Shahid as most wanted for the SP's murder.

Bail Granted

An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) granted bail to Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) worker, Jalil, due to lack of evidence. Jalil was booked for possession of explosives. The Saudabad police seized weapons and explosives from the suspect after his arrest in 2014. The police, however, did not present any evidence before the court, and Abid Zaman, advocate of the accused, maintained before the court that his client had been booked in a fake case.
