It's no surprise that Netflix is home to some of the most watched TV series that have managed to earn numerous Emmy and Golden Globe awards. The likes of Stranger Things, The Crown and Black Mirror among many others have been honoured with the accolades multiple times.

'Narcos' moves to Mexico following Escobar, Cali Cartel's fall

Similarly, Narcos was earlier nominated for Best TV Series at the Golden Globes. The Spanish crime series started with drug lord Pablo Escobar and later dealt with the Cali Cartel. It has now released the trailer of its fourth season, which will be travelling back in time to uncover the birth of Mexico's drug war.

Unlike the previous season, Pedro Pascal will not be returning as Agent Michael Pena in the upcoming installment. And instead of a Colombian backdrop, the fourth season will be set in Mexico which is why it has been aptly titled as Narcos: Mexico, stated The Hollywood Reporter.

Travelling back to Mexico of the 80s, Agent Pena, now essayed by Kiki Camarena arrives at Guadalajara to catch the Rockefeller of marijuana, Miguel Felix Gallardo, played by Diego Luna. The series will then see the rise of the Guadalajara Cartel and a new empire.

Pena soon realises that this fight will be more challenging than he had imagined and goes undercover to gather intelligence on Gallardo. He gets too deep into the mission which leads to a tragic chain of events that affects the drug trade and the war against it. The fourth season will also show Gallardo coming into power as he plans to travel to Colombia and expand his business.

The king is dead, long live the new 'Narcos' drug lords

Based on true events, Narcos: Mexico will premiere on November 16 on Netflix.
