The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Inasf (PTI) government has decided to constitute a task force under Sindh Governor Imran Ismail to expedite development work in Karachi, Express News reported.

Briefing the media along with Minister for Petroleum Ghulam Sarwar Khan after a meeting of the federal cabinet, which was presided over by Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad on Thursday, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry said there are complaints that the funds for the development of Karachi have not been properly utilised.

By-polls conclude peacefully… and unremarkably

He said without Islamabad’s support in security and infrastructure, situation would further deteriorate in the Sindh capital. The task force will be headed by the governor and its funds will be looked after by the Karachi commissioner, he added.

Chaudhry said resolving Karachi’s issues tops the government’s priority list. “Karachi has come out of ethnic politics for the very first time in a long time … the city has given PTI a heavy mandate in general elections and again trusted its leadership in by-polls. Therefore, the city is well represented at the Centre with 12 key appointments,” he added.
