Approximately 0.66 million children, between six months and seven-years-old, will be inoculated for measles during the special immunisation campaign which will commence in Bahawalpur district on October 15.
These views were expressed by Bahawalpur Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ayub during a special meeting regarding the immunisation drive at his office on Saturday.
During the meeting, it was revealed that the 12-day campaign will begin from October 15 and will conclude on October 27. Around 552 teams will collectively participate in the campaign including 436 mobile teams and 116 fixed teams.
In addition to this, 30 tehsil supervisors and 5 district supervisors will be deployed to monitor field staff during the campaign.
Further, during the campaign the immunisation targets for the tehsils will be ensured. In Ahmadpur East 190,020 children will be vaccinated while 92,311 in Bahawalpur Saddar, 83,506 in Hasilpur, 46,659 in Khairpur Tamewali and 11,576 in Yamzan.
Children between the ages of six months to seven years will be vaccinated even if they have been vaccinated before, the DC stated.
The DC issued directions to all the departments to provide special assistance to the health department during the immunisation campaign.
District Health Authority CEO Dr Fayyaz Anwar, Preventative Services District Officer Dr Faisal Waheed, Health Education Officer Zulqarnain Jatoi and other officials were also present during the meeting.
