Seven bike snatchers, four robbers held in Islamabad
The robbers, including the one wounded by police fire, managed to flee the scene. According to SHO Ghunwar Khan Mehr, the suspects opened fire when they were signaled to stop by the patrol police. According to the SHO, there were two dacoits. The police recovered a 15 millimetre bullet shell from the scene and have initiated the investigation.
In another incident, a father and son got injured from robbers' firing in Korangi on Friday. Two dacoits reached a milk shop in Korangi 4F and began looting the shop. A father and son, present at the shop tried to resist and got injured when fired upon by the robbers. The injured were taken to JPMC hospital. The robbers, however, fled the scene. According to rescue sources, the injured include 22-year-old Tanzeel and 48-year-old Iqbal, son of Khuda Bakhsh.
Korangi residents say that there has been an alarming rise in street crimes in the area. Robbers riding bikes roam freely in the area and deprive people of their belongings on gunpoint whenever and wherever they want. The locals have demanded the police to come out with a firm strategy to control street crimes and put an end to their misery.
Shopkeeper killed for resisting robbery
Meanwhile, in Bahadurabad unidentified men snatched a government car and fled the scene. The car was being used by the chief minister's deputy secretary. The police has begun investigation of the incident. According to sources, the incident took place in the Askari College lane and the car was snatched at gun-point. Gulshan-e-Iqbal SP Murtaza Bhutto told The Express Tribune that the car was being used by the chief minister's Deputy Secretary Abdul Shakoor. During the incident, his driver was out for some work when three men in a car appeared, they snatched his car at gun-point and fled the scene. The police is trying to secure the footage from the CCTV cameras to trace the culprits.
