QUETTA: In order to stop further wastage of funds, Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan has directed the provincial government departments to work within their jurisdiction with careful planning and sincerity.

“The incumbent provincial government is facing problems as many of its departments exceeded their jurisdiction and participated in development projects,” said the chief minister while chairing a high-level meeting to review the performance of the Urban Planning and Development Department.

Kamal said, “Unfortunately, we didn’t take seriously the Quetta Master Plan due to which the people of Quetta were stranded while the master plans for Divisional Headquarters were prepared with weak grounds.”

The CM said poor planning caused resources to go to waste.
Lamenting on issuing tenders without consultancy, he said, “Tenders are issued after acquiring consultants’ expertise.”

“The provincial departments are fond of constructing government buildings and parks, but we are unable to maintain them for a longer period. We have been working on a mechanism in this regard.”
He directed the Urban Planning and Development Department to obtain assistance of consultancy firms and create town planners’ jobs in their department.

He also directed the department to prepare master plans for Quetta and divisional headquarters.
