According to Kashmir Media Service (KMS), the occupational forces arrested half a dozen youth from Langate and Pulwama areas. The arrests were made to prevent people from campaigning against the ongoing local body polls in the occupied valley.

The second phase of the local bodies elections is being conducted on Wednesday in Srinagar, Pulwama and many other areas of the valley. The joint resistance leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik has called for the complete boycott of the farcical elections.

The occupying forces have already put almost all Hurriyat leaders including Gilani, Farooq, Malik, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Mukhtar Ahmed Waza, Hilal Ahmed War and Qazi Yasir under house arrest or in detention to stop them from conducting the boycott campaign.

Various Sikh bodies including Sikh Intellectuals Circle, International Sikh Federation and Sikh Students Federation have also boycotted the elections.
