QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan has assured the provincial assembly that he would take up the issue of delay in the announcement of National Finance Commission (NFC) award with the federal government.

Speaking at the floor of House, the chief minister said he would discuss the matter of share of Balochistan in NFC award with the prime minister.

“Lack of funds was hampering development in the province.”
The increased funds would put the province back on track, he added.

Kamal stressed it was the collective issue of the people and the opposition members’ positive suggestions could not be ignored.

He assured the members that reports about the NFC award would be presented in the assembly on annual basis.

Earlier, the provincial Information Minister Zahoor Ahmed Buledi told the House that the province had been facing shortage of funds for development projects.

There was about Rs880 million left to carry out the works under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP), he added.

Buledi said the federal government would be approached to provide funds for addressing the problems being faced by the province. He also called for early announcement of the NFC award.

Opposition members Sanaullah Baloch and Nasrullah Zeray, on the points of order, had drawn the attention of the House towards delay in the announcement of NFC award, which was affecting the development in the province.

Deputy Speaker Sardar Babar Musakhel, who was chairing the session, adjourned the assembly sine die.
