After suffering a global outage just this week, photosharing giant Instagram has now rolled out a new feature that helps follow friends.

“Nametag is a customisable identification card that allows people to find your Instagram profile when it’s scanned,” according to a blog post.

To try this new feature, you need to go to your profile, tap the button with the three lines on the right top side and then tap on the screen to get different colours.

The best thing about this feature is that it is not only limited to colours but lets you choose a different emoji or lets you take a selfie for your nametag.

To scan someone’s nametag, you can either swipe right on your camera or enter the camera by tapping on 'Scan a nametag'.

You can also share your nametag after saving it through the arrow at the top right when viewing your nametag. This feature will not be limited to Instagram but will allow you to share profiles on WhatsApp and Facebook.

Previously, Facebook-owned Instagram introduced a feature that allowed you to mute certain accounts.
