QUETTA: Justice (retd) Amanullah Yasinzai on Thursday took oath as the 24th Balochistan governor during a ceremony held in the Governor House.

Balochistan High Court Chief Justice Tahira Safdar took oath from Yasinzai. Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan, provincial cabinet members, lawyers and government officials also attended the oath-taking ceremony.

The newly-sworn in governor vowed that his focus would be education, law and order, and restoration of trust between the provincial and the central government.

Born in 1954 in Quetta, Justice (retd) Yasinzai completed his bachelors and masters from Forman Christian College Lahore

Governor Yasinzai was appointed as Chief Justice of Balochistan High Court during the government of former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf and resigned from the post to avoid facing reference in the Supreme Judicial Council.

The former BHC Chief Justice had taken oath as a Provisional Constitution Order (PCO) judge when former president Pervez Musharraf declared emergency on November 2007.
