PESHAWAR: At least two people were injured, including a security official and a civilian when a roadside bomb went off along the Ring Road of Peshawar on Tuesday evening.

Cantonment SP Wasim Riaz told the media that an improvised explosive device (IED), which had been planted by the roadside near the toll plaza on Ring Road adjacent to the Hayatabad township, had exploded. The resulting blast injured two passersby.

One of those injured includes a Frontier Corps sepoy.

“The soldier has been identified as Yousaf and the civilian as Naeem. Both of them were passing by the area,” SP Riaz said. He added that a vehicle was also damaged in the blast.

With the bomb site falling within the jurisdiction of the Pishtakhara police station, a large number of police officers rushed to the site immediately after the blast and cordoned off the area.

Police officers said that they had called in the bomb disposal squad (BDS) to inspect the site of the blast.
