QUETTA: Provincial Minister for Livestock Mitha Khan Kakar has expressed grave concern over the worsening plight of the livestock department, saying it will be destroyed if urgent steps are not taken.

During a surprise visit to Quetta’s only Poultry Farm and Veterinary Hospital, the provincial minister expressed indignation over the staff’s negligence and lack of cleanliness.

Disgruntled Kakar said, “Those who cannot perform their duties should leave this department.”

“The livestock department has been under severe crisis. Despite all challenges, the new provincial government is taking all measures to revamp the plight of all government departments.”

During the minister’s visit, Director General Livestock Ghulam Hussain Jaffar informed the livestock minister about the financial woes and lack of resources. He lamented that as the department had been neglected in terms of funds and resources by all regimes; therefore, the existence of the livestock department was in severe jeopardy.

Promising funds and essential resources for the department, Kakar said, “The new government will revive the livestock department in Balochistan, but will not tolerate any negligence by its employees.

“The shares of the livestock and agriculture departments in the provincial development budget was 2%  which is why they have reached close to destruction.”
