PESHAWAR: Following the major bureaucratic reshuffling in the province on Thursday, the association of the Provincial Management Services and Provincial Civil Services (PMS/PCS) have expressed concerns over posting officers on deputation on scheduled posts in the province.

The association wrote to the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) chief secretary on Thursday, urging him to immediately repatriate, to their respective departments, officers of different cadres who have been posted on deputations on scheduled posts in the province.

The letter was sent after the K-P Establishment Department issued a notification affecting a major bureaucratic reshuffle, transferring a number of senior officers of secretary and director general levels in the province.

The notification issued by the government also contains the transfer and postings of several officers on deputation.

The letter states that the former chief minister of the province (Pervez Khattak) had constituted a committee, comprising cabinet members, to resolve issues of bureaucrats in the province and that the committee had ultimately decided to repatriate all deputationists. The report followed the repatriation of several officers at the time.

“Instead of proceeding with the policy of the previous government, trends are changing adversely. Several deputationists have been posted on important positions meant to be manned by career PMS and PAS (Pakistan Administrative Services) officers,” the letter read, adding that it had caused resentment amongst civil servants apart from violating their rights.

It noted that the transfers have badly affected the provincial administration in every respect and requested immediately repatriating all deputationists from scheduled positions.
