KARACHI: Finland Ambassador Harri Kamarainen has urged the private sector of Pakistan to play a significant role in enhancement of bilateral trade which, at present, does not reflect actual potential of the two countries. He shared these views while speaking at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI). The ambassador said, “Finland is ready to cooperate with Pakistan in the fields of renewable energy, water management, waste-to-energy solutions and many others. Finland has replaced plastic with things made from natural resources to protect the environment,” he pointed out, suggesting Pakistan could learn a great deal from Finland in these particular sectors. Speaking on the occasion, LCCI Senior Vice President Khawaja Khawar Rashid said, “Pakistan has an unfavourable trade balance with Finland; strong trade and economic ties will result in a win-win situation for both.” Rashid expressed pleasure that from 2016 to 2017, the value of total trade increased from $90 million to $98 million.
