Abbottabad Operation: Formation of commission challenged
The constitution of a judicial commission to probe into the Abbottabad operation has been challenged
LAHORE:
The constitution of a judicial commission to probe into the Abbottabad operation has been challenged in the Lahore High Court. Petitioner Rana Ilamudin Ghazi advocate said that the federal government formed the commission in violation of the resolution passed by the parliament according to which it was supposed to be formed in consultation with the opposition leader in the National Assembly. The petitioner contended that Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani should be summoned to court to explain his position as he had termed the Abbottabad operation a “historical victory”. He has requested the court to declare the constitution of the commission illegal and direct the government to form a new one headed by chief justice of Pakistan.
