DC tells officials to implement smog policy

FAISALABAD: DC Syed Ahmad Fawad has directed departments concerned to implement the smog policy and control the hazardous effect of smog on human lives.

He issued these instructions during a meeting to review management and preventive measures on the control of smog.

The deputy commissioner said environmental protection was among the top priorities of the government and it could be made successful by the responsible role of the departments concerned.

He added legal action would be taken against smoke-emitting industries and factories. He maintained that bricks kilns involved in pollution would be closed from October 20 to December 31. He said that burning of solid waste should be discouraged and action will be taken against stubble burning and crops residual material.
