The soldiers embraced martyrdom in exchange of fire with terrorists in North Waziristan operation

Army chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa attended the funeral prayers of seven martyred soldiers at the General Headquarters (GHQ), Rawalpindi, said the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Sunday.

"The bodies of the martyred soldiers have been sent to their native towns for burial with full military honour," the military's media wing added.

Nine terrorists were killed in an intelligence-driven operation in North Waziristan tribal district on Saturday which also resulted in the martyrdom of seven servicemen, including an officer.

The security forces had launched an IBO (intelligence-based operation) in the Gharlamai and Spera Kunar Algad of North Waziristan.

The operation was ordered after intelligence had been received that a group of terrorists was hiding in a compound after infiltrating from across [the Afghan] border.

Those martyred in the operation included Captain Junaid, Havaldar Ameer, Havaldar Asif, Havaldar Naseer, Havaldar Abdul Razzaq, Sepoy Samiullah, and Sepoy Anwar.
