LAHORE: The Punjab Food Authority issued a final warning to all food business operators (FBOs), ordering them to have their products registered by December 31.
PFA director general Muhammad Usman said that all the companies will be required to register their products separately. The authority will not allow anyone to sell their unregistered products after the deadline, he added.

The authority will publish the complete list of registered products on PFA’s website for public interest, he stated.
The purpose of the compulsory registration is to ensure food business operators follow the standard prescribed by PFA; registering the products is the first step towards ensuring the provision of quality food, he expressed.

Only those products which meet the standard of the Punjab Pure Food Regulation 2018 will be registered, he maintained. Earlier, on the direction of the director general, special operation teams visited a number of stall distributing food free-of-cost during Muharram 9 and 10.
The authority ensured that filtered water was used to prepare sabeel sharbat. Teams also checked food safety measures and the quality of ingredients.
