As Disney prepares to launch its streaming service, it will also be lining up Earth's Mightiest Heroes. The entertainment company is planning to produce a limited number of series centered on famous characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), reported Variety.

'Avengers 4' to be the final movie for some of Marvel's main superheroes

The series will include the likes of Loki, Scarlet Witch and other Marvel superheroes, some of which have yet to appear in their standalone films.

While Marvel and Disney did not provide any comments, actors who play Loki and Scarlet Witch - Tom Hiddleston and Elizabeth Olsen, respectively - will be essaying the part in the TV series as well. Sources close to the production team have stayed mum on the cost of programming, but the budgets are expected to be more than those of rival productions.

Marvel TV Studios and Disney have been very active with ABC's show Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Netflix's Daredevil. However, sources state that those shows will remain under the Marvel TV Banner while the new series will be associated directly with Marvel Studios.

Storylines for the series are still being teased, however Disney is planning to hold back on some intriguing and power-packed details for the big screen. Insiders informed that some of the Avengers such as Iron Man and Captain America have gotten their own films which is why they will not be featured in the shows.

Matthew McConaughey could be our next Marvel superhero

While the Avengers series could be the service's most ambitious project - both, in terms of scope and budget - it will give Disney and Marvel Studios a chance to reach out to billions of comic book fans around the globe. It's definitely something that Netflix would have loved to get their hands on.
