Reckless driving: Woman dies, husband injured

A 35-year-old woman died while her husband was injured in a road accident in Mangamandi

LAHORE: A 35-year-old woman died while her husband was injured in a road accident in Mangamandi on Tuesday. Police said the victims, identified as Mussarat Bibi and Mehmoodul Hasan, were going on a motorcycle when a speeding passenger bus rammed into their motorcycle. As a result, the couple suffered serious injuries. They were rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced the woman dead. The driver sped away after the accident. Police said the accident occurred due to speeding.

Meanwhile, three people died while 980 were injured in road traffic accidents throughout the province in 860 road traffic crashes during the last 24 hours. Out of the injured 604 were seriously injured and were shifted to different hospitals. Whereas, 373 minor injured victims were treated at the incident site by rescue medical teams. The majority of the accident involved motorbikes, therefore effective enforcement of traffic laws and lane discipline is essential to reduce this increasing number of road traffic crashes.
