4,500 Sindh health facilities registered by SHCC

SHCC to improve the quality of healthcare services

KARACHI: The Sindh Health Care Commission (SHCC) has registered about 4,500 public and private hospitals in Sindh since February and has initiated the process of issuing licences to health facilities.

SHCC Chairperson Professor Dr Tipu Sultan said on Saturday that the commission was formed in February to take care of healthcare establishments (HCEs), public and private hospitals, non-profit organisations, charitable hospitals, trust hospitals, semi-government entities and autonomous healthcare organisations.



He said that SHCC had successfully registered around 4,500 government and private hospitals across the province. "The date of registration of private and public hospitals has been further extended by two months after the earlier date expired. The licensing of registered private and public health facilities has also started across the province," he added.

He said that the purpose of setting up SHCC was to improve the quality of healthcare services, register and licence all healthcare establishments, ensure clinical governance, entertain complaints related to healthcare service delivery and eliminate quackery in the province. He said that SHCC is empowered to inquire and investigate maladministration, malpractice and failure of healthcare service delivery.
