LAHORE: Approximately 5,307 majalis and 650 mourning processions will be organised in different parts of the capital during the first ten days of Muharram. Day and night majalis will be held in imambargahs and other places such as Nawab Sahib Chowk, Mochi Gate, Model Town and Litton Road. Meanwhile, police have made fool proof security arrangements for the majalis and processions.

Lahore DIG Operations Shehzad Akbar has directed all SPs, DSPs and SHOs to visit the processions in their respective areas in order to review the security arrangements. Sensitive gatherings have been provided with a comprehensive security plan. Officers have also been directed to monitor lighting, parking and sabeel arrangements.

The DIG also directed officers to brief the admins of these gatherings. In addition to this, officials from the Dolphin Squad and the Police Response Unit have been directed to continue their patrolling until all the participants have dispersed.
