Former premier Nawaz Sharif underwent a medical check-up at Sharif Medical City after his health reportedly deteriorated after the demise of his wife Kulsoom Nawaz.

According to Express News, Nawaz also reviewed preparations for Kulsoom's funeral scheduled to be held on Friday. The three-time former first lady passed away at a clinic in London on September 11 after a protracted battle with cancer.

Nawaz reportedly excused himself from meeting visitors who arrived at his residence in Raiwand to offer condolences and spent time in his room with close family members and friends.

Nawaz, Maryam and Safdar released on parole ahead of Kulsoom Nawaz’s burial

Speaking to media, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Javed Mirza said Nawaz was dejected over losing his partner of 47 years.

Meanwhile, Kulsoom’s funeral prayers are being held at London Central Mosque near Regent Park attended by PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif, Nawaz’s sons Hussain and Hassan and other family members.

Earlier, it was decided that Hassan and Hussain would not travel to Pakistan for the funeral. The sons were declared absconders by an accountability court hearing corruption references filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in lieu of Supreme Court’s verdict in the Panama Papers case.

Nawaz, Maryam refused to sign parole application: Shehbaz

Shehbaz, who flew to Britain’s capital on Wednesday, is expected to return to Pakistan with the deceased’s body early Friday morning. Her funeral will be held on the same day and she will be buried at the Sharif family graveyard in Jati Umra.

The incarcerated Sharif family members were granted parole late Tuesday night on an application submitted by Shehbaz. Nawaz, Maryam Nawaz and Captain (retd) Safdar Awan, accompanied by Shehbaz Sharif were flown to Lahore from Noor Khan Airbase amid heavy security in the wee hours of Wednesday.
