Addressing a news conference on Thursday, Mahmood said that additional structures will be built behind the PM House for the purpose. He also reiterated the government’s plans to turn state-owned buildings including governor and guest houses into tourist spots.
First 100 days
“Museum, conference centre and art gallery will be opened at the 700-kanal Governor House in Lahore. The state guest house near the Foreign Office will be converted into a five-star hotel and the one in Nathiagali will be made a resort.”
Mahmood added that the Governor House in Karachi will be converted into a museum after consultations with the provincial government. “Governor Houses in Quetta and Peshawar will also be turned into museums to preserve history.”
Earlier in the day, the education minister briefed Prime Minister Imran Khan on the progress made on the proposed plan on reusing heritage buildings in a meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) in Islamabad.
