KARACHI: With autumn nearly here, many fashionistas will be inclined to rock a smokey eye. But did you know that it doesn’t always have to be black? Your makeup should complement your attire so you can put your best foot forward when it comes to major events such as fashion week.

I’ve noticed many people being prone to matching their eye makeup with the colour of their dress but that can be a major fashion faux pas. So I’ve made a list of what smokey eye you should pair with which ensemble.

Plum eyes with a black outfit

You can never go wrong with a black attire. However; you can go wrong with the face you put on with it. Although you need to make sure there is cohesion, that doesn’t necessarily mean matchy-matchy. Ditch the black and go for a plum smokey eye. It not only brings character to your entire look but will also enhance those gorgeous brown eyes. Take the risk and get ready for a night full of compliments. Trust me on this one, I’m speaking from experience.

Neutral eyes with a red outfit

A raring red dress is sure to make head turns anyway, but will they stay turned is the real question. A classic black smokey eye is bound to take away from that stunning rose gear so go for nude colours instead. Neutral tones tend to define the shape of your eye and if you pair it with a red lip, it will definitely tie in with your garb. A red dress will accentuate your body and it’s important that your face tells the same story as your garb. A nude eye with a red lip keeps in with the enhancement of your natural beauty.

Metallic eyes with a white outfit

A white garment has the risk of becoming a bit bland. Although the shade stands out, it needs a little oomph. A icy-hued metallic smokey eye can bring in that much-needed dynamism. Metallics will also help in giving a subtle sheen and shimmer so as to catch the light in your eyes. Team it with a deep cherry lip and voila! You are good to go.

If you’ve opted to wear a fawn ensemble, it’s possible for you to get lost in the crowd since the colour isn’t noticeable. Yet, if your makeup is on point, no one can take the spotlight from you. Here’s where the black smouldering eye comes in. Put on a blushed nude pout and take the classic route - don’t forget to blend blend blend!
