LWMC communication wing officials briefed citizens about cleanliness at GPO Chowk and congested neighbourhoods of Data Darbar area. LWMC Head of Communication Jamil Khawar highlighted that the company was working tirelessly to keep the city clean. He said special attention was being paid to the issues of the city.
As per the instructions of the Lahore High Court, he said the LWMC was working to make Mall Road a model thoroughfare. He said the reason to conduct awareness activities was to promote the message of cleanliness among the shopkeepers and commuters in their surroundings. “LWMC is providing extraordinary services which include additional waste bins, special manual sweeping, mechanical sweeping and washing.
Moreover, within a month, the LWMC enforcement wing issued challans worth Rs154,000 to more than 132 people which include shopkeepers and commuters for illegal dumping of waste and littering.
LWMC Managing Director Farrukh Butt said the waste management company ran its extensive awareness campaign throughout the year. The prime objective of the drive was to change the behaviour of the people towards civic responsibility and cooperate with LWMC. He claimed the company had been working day and night to provide the locals of Lahore with a clean and healthy environment.
