Assumes charge as State Minister for Interior
ISLAMABAD :
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Shehryar Afridi on Monday assumed charge as Minister of State for Interior and later he chaired an introductory meeting at the interior ministry in Islamabad.
The interior secretary briefed the new Minister of State about the administrative matters of the ministry.
Shehryar Afridi on the occasion said that “National interest will not be compromised at any cost”. He said nepotism and negligence would not be tolerated.
Afridi added that everyone is equal in eyes of law and no one is above of it.
He said in order to improve the performance of the ministry, steps should be taken to build the capacity of the officials.
The state minister for interior also said the affairs of ministry should be streamlined on professional lines.
“We need to work together for a peaceful and prosperous Pakistan. No negligence shall be acceptable in discharge of official duties,” he said.
He stressed on the officials to give respect to common citizens while aiming to maintain their dignity.

He further said overseas Pakistanis are precious asset of the country and issued directives to the authorities concerned to entertain overseas Pakistanis at the airports.
Earlier on August 28, Afridi was named as Minister of State for Interior by Prime Minister Imran Khan and on August 31, he was sworn in as the Minister of State for Interior in the federal cabinet.
