GILGIT: At least six people were killed while more than a dozen injured Monday after a passenger van which was en route to Skardu from Rondu valley met an accident after its driver lost control of the vehicle, Express News reported.

Rescue services say that the mishap took place near K2 Road, during which the van fell into a ditch. Four passengers died on the spot whereas two others succumbed to the injuries at the district headquarter hospital (DHQ).

Locals gathered at the scene to help the victims. The condition of five other passengers is stated to be critical.

Last week, eight members of a family died after their hi-roof van collided head-on with a truck near Jamshoro.

The van, carrying 12 passengers, was returning from a shrine in Sehwan to Karachi when it met the accident.

According to witnesses, the van driver was trying to overtake another vehicle and in the process swerved to the other track when it collided with the oncoming truck.
