Crime in the capital: Woman injured in acid attack by husband

Two killed, four injured in road accidents in the capital

ISLAMABAD:
A woman was injured after her estranged husband allegedly threw acid on her face. The victim, who was living alone with her child in Sector H-13, after separating from her husband, was allegedly attacked by him in the wee hours of August 28, according to the FIR.

She told the police that her husband was a drug addict and often demanded money from her. “On August 28 at 2:30 am I opened the door and my husband came in and suddenly threw acid on my face after which I fell unconscious,” the victim wrote in her complaint to the Shams Colony police.

A police officer said the woman bore a few bruises and small injuries on parts of her nose, forehead and cheek. The suspect has denied the allegation and has not been arrested yet.


Meanwhile, another woman allegedly survived a gun attack by her husband in Sector G-11/3. Police say a man accompanied by another man allegedly opened fire on the former’s wife which hit her car. Police have registered an attempted murder case against both suspects.

Moreover, at least two people have been killed and four others injured in road accidents in the capital, the police said on Saturday. Officials said a mini-truck hit a pick-up van at Rawat in which two men, Abdul Qayyum and Muhammad Tariq, were killed.

Two others, Najmul Hassan and Khurram, were injured in the accident. Sihala police have registered a criminal case against the unidentified driver of the mini-truck who fled after the accident. In another accident at Golra mor a dumper truck hit a pedestrian and a motorcyclist injuring both and fleeing after the accident.
