ISLAMABAD:

The government has appointed Sabir Hussain as Member (Oil) in the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra), according to a statement issued on Monday.

Currently working as Director General Oil of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources, Hussain is expected to take charge on June 10.

The seat of member oil had been lying vacant for long after former member oil Dr Ilyas Fazil resigned due to a dispute with Ogra Chairman Tauqeer Sadiq over granting permission to relocate sites of compressed natural gas (CNG) stations.

The Cabinet Division has sent the Ogra chairman on forced leave for three months due to embezzlement charges and the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) is investigating the matter.

Sabir Hussain has vast experience of dealing with matters like pricing, regulation and policy in the oil sector, says the statement.
